How many runes can you have in total at one time(equipped) I pretty sure it is 1 rune a piece

It's one rune per piece of armor. Also be careful about runes that say stacking or non-stacking. Stacking runes means that no matter how many runes of that type you have, the bonus form each rune ill stack. Attunment runes are a good example of those. Non-stacking runes on the other hand, will confer only the bonus of one rune no matter how much of them you have. If you have a major and a minor or strength, only the bonus from the major rune will be applied. Also consider that the -health that goes with major and usperior runes will stack meaning that if you have 2 Major runes of strength, you'll only have +2 to strength but -70 to your health.
